A Good Week for “Dallas Buyers Club”

It has been a banner week for everyone who took part in last year’s film “Dallas Buyers Club.” Not only has it received nominations in six Oscar categories, but the two lead actors from the film were just took home honors from the 2014 Critics’ Choice Awards. Matthew McConaughey took Best Actor and Jared Leto won for Best Supporting Actor. The film acting auditions they undertook to get those roles certainly paid off! In the amazing true story of “Dallas Buyers Club,” McConaughey plays Ron Woodroof, a hard-living character whose self-destructive lifestyle leads him to be diagnosed with HIV. His doctor gives thirty days to live. Woodroof does not accept this death sentence, and resolves to fight for his life. He studies the disease and any and all possible treatments. He finds out that several treatment drugs exist, but are not legal to use because they are not FDA-approved. Woodroof’sinvestigationleadstakes him to Mexico, where he is able to obtain the experimental drugs. He comes back to the States and partners with an unlikely friend, a transsexual HIV patient portrayed by Leto. Together they start a black market “store”that sells the drugs to HIV patients. For his Critics’ Choice acceptance speech, Jared Leto deliver a sincere tribute to all people who struggle with HIV. He also did a hilarious impression of costar and friend Matthew McConaughey. Then McConaughey made a friendly and fun speech that an emotional homage to the real Ron Woodroof. “Dallas Buyers Club” was one of the critically praised films of 2013, and the honors and rewards are expected to keep on coming!   Movie Extras Needed
