Another installment to one of Disney’s lovable and highest grossing films will soon be hitting the big screens in 2017.
Disney announced that the fourth installment to the highly successful Toy Story franchise. The news was officially announced by Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger durin a meeting for investors yesterday.
The upcoming movie will be directed by none other than Disney executive John Lasseter. According to Lasster, the upcoming film will be a love story.
The fourth installment will be a love story, says Lasseter and will officially take off from the events of the last Toy Story. Laseter together with fellow Pixar evetrans Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich developed the idea for the fourth movie.
“When Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself,”
Lasseter directed the first ever Toy Story film back in 1995.
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.” Lasseter said in an interview.
Further details of the movie have yet to be revealed. Toy Story 4 is slated for release in 2017.
The first Toy Story franchise was first released in 1995 and the first ever computer animated buddy-comedy adventure film. It featured the story of a group of anthropomorphic toys pretending to be lifeless among the presence of humans. The movie mainly focuses on the relationship between Woody the pull string cowboy doll and Buzz Lightyear an astronaut action figure.
The movie franchise featured a star studded cast that included Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.
Toy Story 3 movie grossed over $1 billion worldwide during its release in 2010.
