Spike Lee’s ‘Chiraq’ Now Casting for Various Roles

New feature film Chiraq is underway production, and they are currently holding an open casting call to fill in the vacant roles.

To be directed by Spike Lee (Inside Man, Malcolm X, Get on the Bus), Chiraq will also have Samuel L. Jackson, Common, Jeremy Piven, and Kanye West for the lead roles. However, the plot of the movie is still undisclosed to the public, but speculations grew that its story line will run based on the recent gun violence in Chicago (Chiraq is assumed to be a blend word for Chicago and Iraq).

In relation to this, six stand-ins are needed for the film. They are looking for an African-American male in his 30s to 40s with an average build and a height of 5′ 8”. You must have a short black hair and a dark skin complexion.

Also, they want to cast a 20- to 39-year-old African-American female who stands 5′ 3” with a petite physique. You should have a long black hair and a medium skin complexion.

A six-footer, light-skinned African-American male in his 30s–40s with an athletic build and a short black hair is looked for. They also require a size 6 African-American female who has a medium skin complexion. Talent must be at least in her 20s or at most in her 30s. Height should be 5′ 9”.

Meanwhile, an African-American male in his 40s–50s is also sought. You must be 6′ 2” tall with an average body-build. It is required that the applicant is bald and has a medium skin complexion. The sixth stand-in role requires a 6′ 2” Caucasian male with an average build. You must have short and black hair.

Two African-American extras (one boy and one girl) are needed for an upcoming scene. The boy must be 3–5 years of age while the girl should be 7–9 years. Teens (13–19 years old), adults (20–60 years old), and senior (61–75 years old) extras are also encouraged to apply.

You are expected to work on scenes that will be filmed from May 19 through July 10 in Englewood, Chicago, Illinois.

Also, kids of 8–15 years of age and talents from 16–14 years old who can portray teens are needed for filming on May 18 –May 22, 2015.

The salary will be compensated depending on the role that you are in.
