Sony Pictures Television will be producing the upcoming series of Netflix entitled The Get Down, which will make its debut in 2016.
The musical-drama television series is set in 1970s where it will follow a ragtag bunch of teens in the crime-ridden streets of South Bronx, New York City. Together, they will make a mark in the history of music as they transform the world by giving birth to what came to be known today as the hip-hop, punk, and disco genres.
The show’s first season is plotted for thirteen episodes, which will run for one hour each.
In line with this, they are scouting for men, women, and children of any ethnicity to depict South Bronx residents. Since it will take place in the 70s, they strictly require that the talents should appear like people from this decade and must not possess any modern features such as hair extensions and dreads. Shaved heads are also prohibited.
