Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to literally to what the title states; walk one mile in women’s high heel shoes. This fundraising and informative event takes place in cities all over the country. The members of the walk asks men of all ages and important community officials to pick up their favorite pair of women’s shoes (high heels always encouraged), collect donations from family members, acquaintances and co-workers; then Walk-a-Mile around their town to show that they are willing to help fight against sexual attacks towards women and girls all over the world. Don’t fret ladies! You’re welcome, too! Women, children and family members are always welcome to join. The success of these important events depend on the number of men who volunteer to walk in high heels and collect as many donations as possible. Frank Baird created Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® in 2001. It started out as a small group of men daring decided to walk around a park in women’s shoes and has grown to become not only a nationwide but world-wide movement with over 50,000 men and women raising millions of dollars for local rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other sexualized violence prevention and recovery programs.
