Hilary Duff Releases New Album After a Six Year Hiatus

After a long hiatus, pop singer and Disney Alum Hilary Duff finally emerged back into the music scene with her all new studio album entitled- Chasing the Sun. The cover of her latest album features the 26 year old actress/singer/song writer in a bohemian themed outfit complete with accessories.

The former Disney star has assigned up for RCA records for her latest single. Duff reveals that her current album quit different form that of her last album entitled Dignity released last 2007. She later reveals that her new album will be of the “folkier type” which explores the more “rootsy and artistic.”

She was quoted in an interview about the influence of her new album,

“I got inspired by some of the folkier-type music. I love Mumford & Sons and I love The Lumineers. It’s definitely a straightforward pop album but with a bit of that influence in there,” she explained.

This is a different cry from her previous album entitled Dingity which was known for its dance records. The album was originally up for a more electronic music direction, but was eventually changed.

Duff says that her hiatus from music gave her the chance to carefully plan her steps for her current album. She goes on to describe that the album was a “labor of love” saying that her experiences has helped her shape the current album. While working on her current studio album, Duff eventually started to venture back into acting by landing a role in the upcoming TV Land series entitled Younger which is also slated for release in the fall later this year. The actress has also released two highly successful books entitled Elixir and Devoted.

Her current album features the song- Chasing the Sun. It was co-written by artists Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves and Toby Gad. The song is bubbly and upbeat, and practically represents the summery feel of the song. Singer/ songwriter Ed Sheeran was also part of the album by co-writing the song entitled Tattoo as part of her album.

As for her original plans of taking an electronic direction to her music, Duff did not disappoint her fan as she promised to have her second album inclined toward her original plan.

Her comeback albums entitled Chasing the Sun under RCA records is slated for release in fall of this year.

Hilary Duff was a former Mouseketeer who rose to stardom when she starred in the Disney Channel hit series Lizzie Mcguire in the early 2000s. She played the titular role of Lizzie Mcguire. Her first break at singing came in when she sang the official soundtrack song for her movie “The Lizzie Mcguire Movie” in 2003 entitled “Why Not.”

Her very first studio album was released in 2003 with the title Metamorphosis. Duff’s acting career before her hiatus in 2007 included movies like The Perfect Man, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Raise Your Voice. Duff has also released two highly successful novels entitled Elixir and Devoted.

Duff’s last studio album before her six year hiatus was the album called Dignity which was released in 2007.
