Angry Birds Movie Features a Star Studded Cast

Angry Birds is finally coming to the big screen! Fans of the phenomenal game will now have something to look forward to this coming 2016.

  Sony Pictures just announced that the highly anticipated movie adaptation from the highly successful and popular game from the Finnish computer developer Rovio Entertainment will be filled with Hollywood’s biggest stars. The studio confirmed big names like Game of Thrones star and Emmy award winner Peter Dinklage, Frozen’s Josh Gad, and Saturday Night Live’s mainstays Jason Sudekis, Maya Rudolph and Bill Hader.  It has been reported that Sudekis will be voicing the famous angry bird named Red. Other voice casting revealed that Gad will voice Chuck, Rudolph as Matilda, Bill as a pig and Dinklage as the Mighty Eagle.

Although details of the movie plot are yet to be revealed producer John Cohen is more than happy to announce the movie’s roster of actors. He is quoted saying,
“I’m extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they’re surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent – these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we’re thrilled to have them all on board.”
The movie’s teaser was first revealed by Sony Pictures through the game’s mobile app. The tease featured the game’s top three recognizable characters.

Angry Birds first became popular when it was released in 2009 as an app in iOS. The game is developed by Finnish computer developer Rovio Entertainment. Its mechanics would involve a slingshot where the birds are used as ammunition with the purpose of destroying pigs in the playing field. When players advance new birds with special abilities become available that can be utilized by the player. Many of the Angry Birds franchise would include: Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Epic and Angry Birds Transformers.   The upcoming movie will be directed by Fergal Reilly and will be slated for release on July 1, 2016.
